Another member of the Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League has committed to Trine University, a Division 3 National Collegiate Athletic Association school.

William Casey, a 1997 birth year forward, will join his former Eagles teammate, defenseman Owen Kipke, at Indiana-based Trine U effective the 2018-2019 season.

After beginning the 2017-2018 campaign with the Kenai River Brown Bears of the North American Hockey League, Casey joined the Eagles and, playoffs included, had 8 goals, 10 assists, 18 points in 31 games.

Eagles general manager Bruno Bragagnolo confirmed Casey’s commitment to Trine.

“As an organization we are very happy and proud for Will and wish him a successful college career. He joined us just before Christmas from Kenai and played extremely well for us down the stretch and into the playoffs,” Bragagnolo relayed to Hockey News North.

“Trine was at a couple of those games and were impressed with him enough to offer him. One of the fastest and best skaters in the league this year, Will should do well at the college level,” Bragagnolo added.
