The deadly, horrific bus crash involving the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Jr. Hockey League has tugged at the heart strings of the nation, while somehow bringing it closer together.

Hockey teams and hockey fans from hockey towns across Canada have bonded together in a stirring, heartfelt show of support for those affected by the Humboldt tragedy

In Sault Ste. Marie, a group of moms from the Soo Thunderbirds organized a cash fund-raiser prior to, and during, what would be the final game of the 2017-2018 Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season for their sons’ team.

All totaled, through straight donations, the T-Bird hockey moms were able to raise more than $5,000 towards the fund — that is now in the millions of dollars — which is designed to assist with worthy causes related to the Humboldt Broncos and the families of the players and team personnel who lost their lives.
