T-Birds to St. Catharines

High scoring forwards Nick Smith and Noah Solinger are poised to move on from the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League to the St. Catharines Falcons of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League, Hockey News North has confirmed.

Smith and Solinger finished first and third, respectively, on the Thunderbirds in scoring over the course of the 2017-2018 NOJHL season.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Smith topped the T-Bird scoring chart with 35 goals, 34 assists, 69 points in 55 regular season games. He then added 3 goals, 4 assists, 7 points in 13 playoff outings.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Solinger put up 12 goals, 26 assists, 38 points in 52 regular season matches and added 3 goals, 3 assists, 6 points in 13 playoff contests for the T-Birds.

Both Smith and Solinger have 1999 birth dates and have two full seasons of junior hockey eligibility ahead of them.

Smith and Solinger both plan on attending Brock University in St. Catharines in the fall while playing for the aforementioned Falcons of the GOJHL.
