Rayside Balfour Canadians of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have added to their player depth chart, complete with experience at this level.

Hockey News North has confirmed that the NOJHL rights of seasoned goalie Joel Rainville and defensemen Robert Brisson and Carter Geoffroy have been transferred to the Canadians.

Rainville and Brisson were teammates with the Espanola Express of the NOJHL last season while Geoffroy becomes Rayside property via the St. Catharines Falcons of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

“Given the rules that we are now playing under, and, given our inability to call up affiliate players this season, it was critical that we add some much-needed depth to our lineup,” relayed Rayside general manager Jeff Forsyth.

All three players — who have junior hockey eligibility beyond this season– are expected to join the Canadians at practice this week as they prepare for three more games against the Timmins Rock, beginning with a Thursday night home match at Chelmsford Arena.

Rainville has a 2001 birth date while Brisson and Geoffroy were both born in 2002.

Rayside began the 2020-2021 NOJHL regular season tonight with a 4-1 loss to Timmins.
