Reigning Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League champion Powassan Voodoos have signed defenseman Rob McCollum from the Thunder Bay Kings major midgets.

The 6-foot, 175-pound, puck-moving defender played for coach Rob DeGagne — a former standout centre with the erstwhile North Bay Centennials of the Ontario Hockey League — in Thunder Bay last season.

“He’s an effortless skater with good speed and puck skills,” Powassan assistant general manager Mike Mackley said of McCollum.

“He can dictate the pace in possession. Rob is a player who contributes on both sides of the puck,” Mackley added in further praise of the 1999 birth-year defender.
