Hired just a few weeks back, Ryan Woodward has been abruptly dismissed as coach of the Timmins Rock of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League.

Timmins president Ted Gooch said the firing “is not hockey related” and added it was a serious enough issue that the Rock board of directors saw it necessary to make the move.

“Absolutely, we take the support from our community partners, our fans and our season ticket holders very seriously,” Gooch said. “Their support is crucial to us and we don’t take anything lightly. I can’t comment on the details of the parting ways right now.”

Woodward was hired earlier this month to replace retired, venerable NOJHL coach Paul Gagne behind the Timmins bench.
