Two home tilts for T-Birds

Soo Thunderbirds will close out the 2014 portion of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League season with a pair of home games this weekend.

The Thunderbirds, who have 45 points from a league-best record of 21-4-3, are home to the Mattawa Blackhawks tonight and the Elliot Lake Wildcats on Sunday evening.

Both matches are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. at John Rhodes Community Centre.

A pair of Thunderbirds have a chance to hit the 20-goal mark before play resumes in 2015.

Jaren Bellini leads the T-Birds in goals with 19 and Nic Tassone has found range 17 times.

Tassone leads the T-Birds in points with 42, which is six more than Bellini.

Three more forwards follow next on the T-Bird scoring chart.

Joey Miller has 8 goals, 23 assists 31 points followed by rookie Nic Sicoly at 12-15-27 and Anthony Miller at 11-14-25.
