Saginaw Spirit general manager Dave Drinkill has confirmed the hiring of the highly-touted A.J. Walczak as goalie coach for the Ontario Hockey League team.

“A.J. comes very highly recommended from many people in the Michigan area and we are excited for him to get to work with our goaltenders. A.J. is exactly what we were looking for when looking to fill this position,” Drinkill said of Walczak.

The 36-year old Walczak is a goalie instructor at Michigan-based Legace Hockey Academy. Legace Hockey Academy is co-owned and operated by Walczak and former OHL and National Hockey League goalie Manny Legace.

Walczak has developed and worked with high-end goalies such as Sergei Bobrovski of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets and Tyler Parsons of the 2016 Memorial Cup champion London Knights and 2017 world junior hockey gold medal winning Team USA.
