All signed up in Saginaw

First-round draft pick Connor Punnett has wasted little time in signing with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.

A product of the small northern Ontario town of Powassan, which is situated just outside North Bay, Punnett was taken by Saginaw with the 19th overall pick at the recent 2019 OHL priority selections draft.

A 6-foot-1, 175-pound defenseman, the high-scoring Punnett skated for the Orillia-based North Central Predators of the Eastern AAA Minor Midget Hockey League during the 2018-2019 season.

Of note, Punnett is a nephew of Powassan mayor Peter McIsaac.
