Baber nets his first

Sault Ste. Marie product Camaryn Baber has his first Ontario Hockey League goal in his 10th game with the Saginaw Spirit.

The rookie forward, who is on recall to Saginaw from the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League, scored a breakaway goal on Friday as the visiting Spirit dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Guelph Storm.

A third round pick of the Spirit at the 2017 OHL draft, Baber now has 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points and a +3 rating in 10 games for Saginaw. He has points in each of his past two games with the Spirit.

Meanwhile, fellow Sault Ste. Marie product Nicholas Porco is finding his stride as a rookie forward with the Spirit.

Porco had a goal and an assist in Saginaw’s 4-3 OT loss to Guelph.

Saginaw’s first round pick at the 2017 OHL draft, Porco has 2 goals, 2 assists, 4 points in his last four games for the Spirit. In all, Porco now has 4 goals, 6 assists, 10 points in 40 games with the Spirit.
