Prize pupil Ben Gaudreau scored 98 per cent on his first Ontario Hockey League test. The 16-year old goalie stopped a remarkable 49 of 50 shots in his OHL debut on Thursday to spark the Sarnia Sting to a stunning 5-1 road win over the Barrie Colts.

Gaudreau, who was taken by Sarnia from the North Bay Trappers of the Great North Midget Hockey League in the first round, seventh overall, of the 2019 OHL priority selections draft, backstopped the Sting to its first victory of the season after seven straight losses.

It was Gaudreau’s first game since suffering a knee injury at the OHL Gold Cup showcase tournament in early May and the lanky goalie showed no signs of rust after being on the sidelines for almost six months.
