The best team in the Ontario Hockey League over the course of the 2017-2018 regular season faces elimination today.

Down three games to two in the best-of-seven OHL championship series, the Western Conference champion Soo Greyhounds are in a must-win situation.

On the flip side, a win by the Eastern Conference champion Hamilton Bulldogs will give them the OHL crown.

The last time a Hamilton team won the OHL title was back in 1976 when the Hamilton Fincups, coached by the legendary Bert Templeton, were champions.

Several members of the 1976 Fincups title team are expected to be in attendance for this afternoon’s Game 6 of the OHL championship series, which is slated for a 2 p.m. start at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton.

Today’s game will be televised on Sportsnet 360.

With 116 points, the Soo finished atop the OHL regular season standings. Hamilton put up 93 points to place first in the Eastern Conference.

Should the Greyhounds spoil the party in Hamilton today, a seventh-and-deciding game will be played in the Soo on Monday night.
