A team that is seen as being on the rise in the Ontario Hockey League has formed an affiliation with a reputable member of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League.
Flint Firebirds of the OHL have confirmed an affiliation agreement with the Leamington Flyers of the GOJHL.
With the agreement, Flint will be able to assign affiliated players, draft picks and prospects to play and develop in Leamington.
“Leamington is well known as a respected program in a great developmental league that the GOJHL is and it will provide an excellent environment for our prospects to develop,” relayed Flint general manager Barclay Branch.
To be sure, Leamington has a history of success as the Flyers won back-to-back GOJHL Western Conference playoff championships in 2014 and 2015 and were regular season conference champs in 2018-2019.
Geographically, Flint and Leamington are just over 100 miles apart.
