Hard-nosed rookie Camaryn Baber did not hurt his chances of making the Saginaw Spirit as a 2001 birth year forward when he scored a goal in the Ontario Hockey League team’s annual Blue-White game that was played on Wednesday.

Baber, who was selected by Saginaw in the third round of the 2017 OHL draft from the Soo Greyhounds of the Great North Midget Hockey League, is one of 16 forwards still at the Spirit training camp.

Saginaw has a pair of exhibition games slated with the Soo Greyhounds this weekend.

The Greyhounds and Spirit will meet on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Saginaw and on Sunday at 4 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie.

Besides Baber, two other northern Ontario products also scored goals in Wednesday’s Blue-White intrasquad match in Saginaw. The two are holdover forwards Max Grondin of Hearst and Danny Katic of Timmins.
