Flint Firebirds finally have their first victory of the 2018-2019 Ontario Hockey League season. In their second annual School Day Game promotion, the Firebirds skated past the visiting Sarnia Sting 7-4 in a match that began at 11:00 this morning.

Today’s win for Flint forged its record to 1-16-1 on the season while Sarnia slipped to 7-8-2 with the defeat.

Right winger Jake Durham scored three goals to ignite the Firebirds, who out-shot the visiting Sting by a 36-27 margin. Luke Cavallin was the goalie of record for Flint, which rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to post the come-from-behind victory.

More than 3,500 fans took in this morning’s game in Flint.

  1. Maybe that’s it. They were just playing games at the wrong time. Those players like to go to bed early.
    Gonna be tough for the Greyhounds going in there on Friday. The Firebirds finally got their first taste of blood.
