A coaching vacancy has arisen in the Ontario Hockey League as the Guelph Storm has parted ways with bench boss Jarrod Skalde.

Skalde, who took over as head coach of the Storm in December of 2015, had a year remaining on his contract at the time of the firing, which was confirmed earlier today.

Guelph has missed the playoffs in each of the past two seasons.

As the Storm will be hiring a new coach, it is also in the process of finding a new general manager with veteran Mike Kelly set to retire from his position sometime after the upcoming under-16 and under-18 OHL draft selection processes.

What you think about “Guelph Storm fires coach”

  1. The Guelph Storm need to clean house altogether. Maybe bring back the original logo and colors as well. Make some trades and rebuild from there. I bet if the team were to hold a contest to decide which logo they should use, most fans would pick the one used from 1992 to 1997.

As for the fired coach, it’s a tough business. You can get fired for even losing five games in a row.
