Home opener for Firebirds

Having started the 2017-2018 Ontario Hockey League regular season with a pair of road victories, Flint Firebirds take to the ice tonight for their home opener.

The Firebirds will play host to the Ottawa 67’s in a slated 7 p.m. start at Dort Federal Event Center.

As Flint takes a record of 2-0-0 into the match, Ottawa has a 2-2-0 mark.

Overage goalie Garrett Forrest is likely to make his third straight start of the season tonight for Flint. The former Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League all-star has a 2-0-0 record with a 2.88 goals against average and .924 save percentage in the two games to date.

Second-year forwards Ty Dellandrea and Hunter Holmes lead the Firebirds with a pair of goals apiece.
