Hounds fend off Attack

The hot dogs emerged as top dogs over the under dogs. A little mustard, a little ketchup, a little relish and the Soo Greyhounds finally downed the Owen Sound Attack. With a gulp.

It took a seventh-and-deciding game but the Greyhounds, as they should have, silenced the Attack to advance to the Ontario Hockey League, Western Conference finals against the Kitchener Rangers.

It is a time to rejoice, for the Greyhounds and their fans.

Not a time to gloat, though.

If it had better goal-tending, Owen Sound could have well won the Game 7 that it fell behind — by 6-1, 7-2 and 8-3 margins — only to lose 9-7.

To be sure, the Greyhounds, as no. 1 team in the nation, got all that it could handle from the well-coached, never-give-up Attack.

Game 7. Series over.

Greyhounds move on. Attack moves out.

End of this series story.

Hockey will continue in Houndtown, though, as Kitchener is up next.

As for Owen Sound, it was quite the Attack, that came up just short.
