Ingham or Mancina?

Mississauga Steelheads have a net decision to consider as they get set to face Oshawa Generals in the second round of the Ontario Hockey League playoffs.

Do the Steelheads continue with 2000 birth-year rookie Jake Ingham between the pipes or do they revert to the experience of 1996 birth-year overager Matthew Mancina?

With Mancina injured, it was Ingham who backstopped the no. 2 seed Steelheads past the no. 7 seed Ottawa 67’s four games to two in the opening round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. In the six-game series, Ingham posted a 4-2 record to go with a 2.68 goals against average and .876 save percentage.

Ingham actually had better numbers than the veteran Mancina during the 2016-2017 regular season.

Ingham fashioned a 17-6-6 record to go with a 2.69 GAA and .907 save percentage. Mancina had a 16-15-7 mark to go with a 3.25 GAA and an .899 save percentage.

There is no question as to who will tend twine for no. 3 seed Oshawa to begin the series with Mississauga.

The Generals have one of best goalies in the entire OHL as their starter in overager Jeremy Brodeur. Brodeur was a standout in the first round of the playoffs with a 4-2 record, 2.17 GAA and .935 save percentage as Oshawa ousted no. 6 seed Sudbury Wolves four games to two.
