Sault Ste. Marie native Nic Sicoly is moving on from the Guelph Storm after two full seasons with the Ontario Hockey League team, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.

A 5-foot-9, 170-pound forward with a 1998 birth date, Sicoly was put for trade by Guelph after discussing his status with Storm coach-general manager George Burnett.

“In talking to him, he understood that we had signed a lot of young forwards and we came to an understanding,” Burnett told HockeyNewsNorth.com. “He and I have had a number of very healthy conversations and are on the same page. His age, numbers, opportunity and university are all factors.”

A fourth-round pick of the Storm at the 2014 OHL draft, Sicoly subsequently suited up for the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League as a 16-year old rookie and produced 18 goals, 35 assists, 53 points in 50 games over the course of the 2014-2015 regular season.

He then moved up to Guelph full-time in 2015-2016 and netted 8 goals, 5 assists, 13 points in 64 games as a 17-year old rookie playing on the OHL’s worst team.

However, Sicoly took a step back numbers-wise as an 18-year old in 2016-2017 with 2 goals, 9 assists, 11 points in 66 games.
