Iroquois Falls product Chad Denault is headed back up north. The 19-year old right winger has been traded by the Peterborough Petes to the North Bay Battalion for a conditional Ontario Hockey League draft pick.

A third round pick by Peterborough at the 2016 OHL priority selections draft, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Denault had two goals, four assists, six points in 23 games with the Petes this season. He had nine goals, six assists, 15 points in 68 games for Peterborough in 2018-2019.

Petes general manager Michael Oke had good words to say about Denault.

“Chad has been a tremendous member of the Petes family and the Peterborough community,” commented Oke. “In addition to being an excellent teammate, he has been a great ambassador for our team over the last four seasons.

“This move will allow Chad the opportunity to play in situations in North Bay that may not have been available to him in Peterborough,” Oke added.

Meanwhile, Battalion coach and director of hockey operations Stan Butler commented on what Denault brings to North Bay.

“He’s a big, strong two-way player, and we felt, with the youth of our team, he would bring some experience to enhance the development of our players,” relayed Butler.
