Sault Ste. Marie product Adam McPhail has been traded by the Saginaw Spirit to the Peterborough Petes in an Ontario Hockey League trade finalized earlier today, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.

McPhail, a 6-foot-1, 195-pound, 1997 birth-year right winger, made his OHL debut with Saginaw in 2014-2015 and scored 2 goals, 4 assists, 6 points in 51 games, regular season and playoffs included.

He was a ninth-round pick of Saginaw from the Soo Thunder minor midgets at the 2013 OHL draft.

Peterborough general manager Michael Oke confirmed the acquisition to HockeyNewsNorth.com, saying he gave Saginaw a ninth-round pick in 2017 in return for McPhail, who is expected to fill a secondary line role with the Petes.

“Adam is a hard-working player who has an opportunity to add depth and experience to our roster this season,” said Oke.
