Plum left winger Nick Porco has been picked by the Saginaw Spirit in the first round, fourth overall, of today’s Ontario Hockey League minor midget draft.

A Sault Ste. Marie product, Porco headed south to play at the minor midget level for the Vaughan Kings of the Greater Toronto Hockey League this past season.

In 33 regular-season games for Vaughan, Porco produced 22 goals, 19 assists, 41 points and was named GTHL minor midget player of the year.

Before today’s draft, Vaughan coach Beau Moyer told HockeyNewsNorth.com that he felt Porco was going to be a “top five” pick in the first round.

What you think about “Porco drafted in 1st round”

  1. Lots of opportunities in coming years to watch him develop as Saginaw /Soo play 8 games against each other!!

  2. Saginaw 6 picks in first 3 rounds , hounds have 2… Nick may have lots of good young players to develop with.
