Saginaw Spirit already has five players with more than 20 goals this season. And having found the back of the net 19 times, Sault Ste. Marie product Nick Porco is closing in on a 20-goal season for Saginaw.

A second-year winger and Saginaw’s first-round pick, fourth overall, at the 2017 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft, Porco and the Spirit are in the Soo tonight for a Western Conference showdown with the Greyhounds.

With both teams having nine games left on the 2018-2019 regular season slate, the second-seeded Greyhounds have 85 points, which is two more than the third-ranked Spirit in the 10-team Western Conference of the OHL.

As for Porco, the Soo kid is looking to join five teammates who have all scored 20 or more goals this season.

Cole Coskey leads the Saginaw goal-scoring chart with 31, Owen Tippett and rookie Cole Perfetti have 20 each, Damien Giroux has potted 25 and Blade Jenkins has found range 21 times.
