Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League has shipped third-year backup goalie Brendan Bonello to the Kingston Frontenacs, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.

In return for the 1999 birth-year netminder, Saginaw gets a sixth-round draft pick in 2019 from Kingston.

Bonello did not pan out after being Saginaw’s third-round pick, 45th overall, at the 2015 OHL draft. Over parts of three seasons in Saginaw, Bonello struggled with a 3-11-2 record, 4.79 goals against average and .850 save percentage.

Based on those numbers, Spirit general manager Dave Drinkill did well in recovering a sixth-round draft pick for the big goalie.
