Rookie centre Cole Perfetti potted a pair of goals as the Saginaw Spirit skated past the visiting Soo Greyhounds 5-2 as the regular season in the Ontario Hockey League opened tonight.

Perfetti was Saginaw’s first round pick at the 2018 OHL priority selections draft.

Sudbury, Ontario product Cameron Lamour got the win between the pipes for Saginaw in front of a crowd of just under 2,600 at the Dow Event Center.

The Spirit is seen as a Western Conference contender for 2018-2019 after finishing in eighth place during the 2017-2018 regular season before being swept by the Greyhounds in the first round of the playoffs.
