Saginaw snags Ryan McLeod

Saginaw Spirit, with a record of 11-2-2 in its last 15 outings, has further strengthened itself with the acquisition of high-end forward Ryan McLeod via Ontario Hockey League trade with the Mississauga Steelheads.

In exchange for the 1999 birth year skater, Saginaw has sent 2001 birth-year defenseman Duncan Penman, a second-round pick and three third-round selections to Mississauga.

McLeod, who is in his fourth OHL season, has career point totals of 54 goals, 116 assists, 170 points with Mississauga. In 32 games with Mississauga this season, the 6-foot-3, 208-pound center had 12 goals, 26 assists, 38 points.

He was a second-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers at the 2018 National Hockey League draft.

Saginaw sits in third place in the Western Conference of the OHL with 48 points from a record of 22-11-4.
