Sault Ste. Marie product Camaryn Baber has signed with the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League, HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed.

The 2001 birth-year forward was a third-round pick of the Spirit, 57th overall, at the 2017 OHL priority selection draft after starring for the Soo Greyhounds of the Great North Midget Hockey League. Baber was the Northern Ontario Hockey Association minor midget player-of-the-year for the 2016-2017 season.

Baber is expected to be in the Saginaw lineup for at least one game when the Spirit faces off with the Soo Greyhounds in an OHL home-and-home exhibition series this weekend.

The two teams will meet on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Saginaw and Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Soo.

What you think about “Saginaw Spirit signs Soo boy”

  1. Another Baber family member going to make his mark in hockey, too bad it’s in another jersey. Grandpa must be smiling. Another swing and miss for the Hounds again.
