Sarnia Sting fills a Voit
American-born forward Ty Voit has chosen the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League over the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League.
The 5-foot-7, 135-pound Voit was a fifth round pick by Sarnia at the 2019 OHL priority selections draft and a first-round choice of Cedar Rapids at this year’s USHL draft.
Voit netted 32 goals in 62 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins elite midget team in 2018-2019.
The speedy Voit is slated to make his Sarnia debut in a neutral-site exhibition game against the Soo Greyhounds on Thursday, Sept. 12 in Chatham.
