Don’t look now but the Sudbury Wolves are a contender. Yes, the same Wolves who missed the Ontario Hockey League playoffs three times in the past four years including the 2017-2018 season in which they finished in last place in the 20-team loop.

Now, through 29 games of the 2018-2019 season, Sudbury already has 19 wins, which is two more than the Wolves managed through the entire 2017-2018 campaign.

The Wolves have won six straight games to improve their record to 19-8-2, which has them tied with the Niagara IceDogs for second place in the 10-team Eastern Conference with 40 points apiece.

Sudbury has also won 11 straight games on home ice.

Ottawa 67s lead the Eastern Conference with a league-best record of 24-4-4, good for 52 points.
