First place Soo Greyhounds won their 50th game of the 2017-2018 Ontario Hockey League season on Wednesday, a 4-1 road decision over the Saginaw Spirit.

Saginaw’s only goal was scored by Sault Ste. Marie product Nicholas Porco, who was named the game’s second star.

The goal was the fifth of the season for Porco, a 2001 birth-year left winger who was Saginaw’s first-round pick, fourth overall, at the 2017 OHL draft.

The win for the Greyhounds improved their record to a league-best 50-6-4 while the loss for the Spirit dropped its mark to 27-25-8.

What you think about “Soo boy scores against Soo”

  1. People often talk about the long service of coach/GM Stan Butler with the Battalion but even Stan should find out what the Hounds are doing in Sooland because they’re flying high while the boys in green are floundering. You’re never too old to learn something new.
