Saginaw Spirit has dealt hulking center Max Grondin to the Peterborough Petes for a pair of future draft picks, Hockey News North has confirmed.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Grondin heads to Peterborough for a second round pick in 2024 and a third round selection in 2020.

Hailing from the northeastern Ontario town of Hearst, Grondin, who has a 2000 birth date, was a second round pick of Saginaw at the 2016 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft. He played in 147 career games for the Spirit and totaled 18 goals, 22 assists, 40 points.

Grondin was one of 14 forwards on the Saginaw roster at the time of today’s trade.

The acquisition of two high, future draft picks by Saginaw for Grondin could well be used as potential trade chips by general manager Dave Drinkill as the Spirit is one of several contenders in the Western Conference.
