A coaching change appears to be working for the Saginaw Spirit. The latest win for Saginaw, a 3-1 victory over the reigning Ontario Hockey League champion Hamilton Bulldogs tonight, has the Spirit rising under new bench boss Chris Lazary.

In 18 games with Lazary at the helm, Saginaw has a record of 14-2-2 as the hottest team in the Western Conference of the OHL.

Lazary took over from the fired Troy Smith 22 games into this season despite the fact that Saginaw was above the .500 mark with a record of 11-9-2.

But the Spirit has since turned it up under Lazary and Saginaw now has a record of 25-11-4, good for 54 points and third place in the Western Conference.
