Trevor Letowski has been duly promoted from associate coach to head coach of the 2017 Memorial Cup champion Windsor Spitfires.

The 40-year old Letowski takes over as bench boss of the Ontario Hockey League team from Rocky Thompson, who was recently hired as head coach of the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

A Thunder Bay native, Letowski spent the past two seasons as Windsor’s associate coach after six years of coaching with the Spitfires OHL Western Conference rival Sarnia Sting.

Postmedia is reporting that the Spitfires have given Letowski a four-year contract.
