Windsor Spitfires have added another defenseman to their blue line brigade.

The Spitfires have acquired 2002 birth year defender Michael Renwick from the Hamilton Bulldogs for a second round pick at the 2022 Ontario Hockey League priority selections draft.

Of note, Renwick is a grandson of former Spitfires assistant coach Dave Prpich.

Renwick was taken by Hamilton in the second round of the 2018 OHL priority selections draft and has subsequently played in 77 regular season games for the Bulldogs, totaling 20 points.

In addition to Renwick, the Spitfires can return as many as five defensemen for the 2020-2021 season, including two potential overagers.

“It’s a great problem to have,” said Spitfires general manager Billy Bowler.

“I would love to have too many OHL caliber defencemen because we want to create depth at every position,” Bowler told Postmedia.
