Super week for Mario

Overage puck-stopper Mario Culina of the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League has been named Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week.

The Sault Ste. Marie native, acquired by Kitchener from the Sudbury Wolves for an eighth round pick at the OHL trade deadline, had a record of 3-0-0 that included two shutouts, a goals against average of 0.67 and a save percentage of .980 in three outings for the Rangers last week.

Overall, since joining the Rangers, Culina has a perfect 5-0-0 record to go with a 1.20 goals against average and .958 save percentage.

Culina played the past two seasons with the reigning Memorial Cup champion Windsor Spitfires. He is a graduate of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League as a championship goalie with the Soo Thunderbirds.
