It was an improbable win for the Soo Greyhounds. Down 3-0 to the visiting Sudbury Wolves in the first period of Saturday’s Ontario Hockey League match, the Greyhounds rode the relief goal-tending of forgotten backup Ethan Taylor to a 4-3 triumph.

Taylor relieved workhorse starter Bailey Brkin at the 14:40 mark of the first period with the Greyhounds down by three goals. Taylor, whose last action was in relief of Brkin back on November 21, stopped all 21 shots he faced to backstop the Soo to the come-from-behind victory.

The Hounds have now won eight of their last nine games and take a record of 18-16-2 into a Monday night road match against the streaking Saginaw Spirit.

Saginaw has won its last five games and is tied for first place in the Western Conference with the Guelph Storm.

The Spirit has 44 points from a record of 20-10-4 and features sophomore sensation Cole Perfetti, who has 19 goals, 35 assists, 54 points thus far this season. Perfetti has been particularly dangerous on the power play with 5 goals, 13 assists, 18 points.
