Free-agent goalie Mario Culina continues to provide net worth for the Windsor Spitfires in his second season in the Ontario Hockey League.

The undrafted, 1997 birth-year puck-stopper, who was signed by Windsor from the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League last season, is unbeaten in three starts for the Spitfires to begin the 2016-2017 campaign.

Culina has a record of 3-0-0 to go with a 2.33 goals against average and .929 save percentage for the Spitfires, who are in first place in the OHL’s West Division with 12 points from a 6-2-0 mark.

The slender, 6-foot-1, 180-pound Culina is following up on a good rookie season in Windsor in which he fashioned a record of 12-6-1 along with a 2.64 goals against average and .902 save percentage.

A Sault Ste. Marie product, Culina combines with 1999 birth-year goalie Michael DiPietro — who was Windsor’s second-round pick at the 2015 OHL draft — to give the Spitfires a solid 1-2 tandem between the pipes.
