Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League have added experience to their defense corps with the acquisition of 19-year old Cole Candella from the Hamilton Bulldogs.

In exchange for the fourth-year defender — who was a fifth-round pick of the Vancouver Canucks at the 2016 National Hockey League draft — Hamilton gets a second-round pick and two third-round selections from Sudbury.

“Cole is a player who was highly sought after as he is expected to be one of the top 19-year-old d-men in the league this season,” said Wolves general manager Rob Papineau. “He is an excellent skater and a strong puck-moving defencemen who has a great shot.”

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Candella is happy to be headed north to Sudbury.

“I have heard that there are lots of good things happening in Sudbury with the new coach and everything,” said Candella. “I’m excited to get up there, meet the boys and help the team have a great season.”
