A re-named team that has changed leagues has chosen a captain to lead the way in 2015-2016.

1995 birth-year winger Bryce Peplinski has been named captain of the Motor City Hawks of the U.S. Premier Hockey League.

The Hawks operated as the Motor City Monarchs of the erstwhile Midwest Jr. Hockey League in 2014-2015.

With the Monarchs last season, Peplinski potted 22 goals, 32 assists, 54 points in 43 games.

Point production combined with leadership skills make Peplinski a good choice as team captain, according to Motor City coach Jason McCrimmon.

“Bryce was one of the first players we signed last season as we were immediately impressed not only by his hockey skills but his quiet confidence and leadership abilities,” said McCrimmon. “He set a big-time example in our locker room. I know for a fact he played through numerous injuries. We didn’t have to think very long in choosing him as our captain for this season.”
