Brothers Joseph Hays and Chris Hays have committed to return to the Detroit Fighting Irish of the United States Premier Hockey League for the 2017-2018 season.

“The words dependable, steady and humble are the words mostly heard when asked about the Hays brothers,” Fighting Irish general manager Dan Vasquez relayed to HockeyNewsNorth.com.

Joe, the older brother, has a 1997 birth date and will be playing his fifth-and-final season in junior — and fourth with the Fighting Irish — in 2017-2018.

“Joe possesses a great tool bag of skills both offensively and defensively and his ability to use his long reach is a valuable asset on both sides of the puck. Our goal will be to get Joe showcased to the right college program this year so that he can continue to play hockey and pursue his goal to become an engineer,” said Vasquez.

Younger brother Chris has a 1999 birth date and is seen by Vasquez as an up and coming defender in the USPHL.

“One happy camper to seeing both Hays boys back in the lineup is our owner Lisa Cruz, as the entire Hays family have been huge contributors to our organization — anything from selling tickets, driving our bus and being billet co-ordinators,” noted Vasquez.
