Well-traveled goalie Danial Lofstrom, whose roots are in Mississagi First Nation, just outside Blind River, Ont., has signed with the Alpena Flyers of the U.S. Premier Hockey League.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Lofstrom, who has a 1996 birth date, played midget hockey in Blind River before moving up to tend goal with teams in both the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League and Greater Metro Jr. Hockey League.

Alpena general manager David Guzman confirmed to HockeyNewsNorth.com that Lofstrom has joined the Flyers as one of three goalies.

“He came out and skated and seems to be a great fit for our team,” Guzman said of Lofstrom. “What a nice family as well, which is always a welcome bonus.”
