Michigan-based Alpena Flyers of the U.S. Premier Hockey League have signed a player all the way from West Valley City, Utah.

HockeyNewsNorth.com has confirmed that Alpena has inked forward Ben McCleery for the 2016-2017 season.

McCleery put up 22 points in 21 games in a 2015-2016 season split between Hunter High School and the Salt Lake Rebels — while carrying a 3.7 grade point average in the classroom.

“I chose the Alpena Flyers to play junior hockey because I believe the team best fits me,” said McCleery. “It will help me develop into a better hockey player so that I will be able to play in college.”

Meanwhile, the Flyers have scheduled a tryout camp in Flint, Michigan for July 30-31.

Interested players can download a tryout form (linked below) then scan and e-mail to alpenaflyers@gmail.com.
