Colin Larkin scored at 5:37 of the third overtime period to give visiting Michigan Warriors a dramatic 1-0 victory over Port Huron Fighting Falcons in the opening game of the best-of-five series for the North American Hockey League’s North Division title.

The two teams had battled through three periods of regulation time and two full 20-minute overtime sessions before Larkin scored his third goal of the playoffs to end a goaltenders duel between Trevor Gorsuch of Michigan and Port Huron’s Alex Blankenburg.

Gorsuch made 55 saves to improve his record this playoff season to 4-0 with a 1.05 goals against average and .966 save percentage.

Blankenburg stopped 51 of 52 shots in the marathon that took 4 hours, 15 minutes to complete.

Game 2 in the series goes tonight at 7 p.m. in Port Huron.

  1. More great covrage of the Warriors ….. Thank You Randy! ….. What a game last night and these 2 teams have to play again 2nite.
    GO WARRIORS GO!!!!!

  2. That was an incredible tilt in Port Huron last night that had everyone on the edge of their seats. Both teams had excellent scoring opportunities, but the goalies were incredible at both ends of the ice and came up huge for over 4 hours! Playoff hockey at its finest. Super glad the Warriors pulled this one out!!! Way to go boys!!!

  3. port huron need a win today … Better win tonight. Don’t want to be down 0-2 in a best-of-5 series heading to the IMA (it’s still the IMA Sports Arena to me.)

  4. I want to remark on the great job done by the annoucner at the Port Huron games. He called the game with excitement and was a pleasure to listen too.
