Here ‘n there within the Midwest Division of the U.S. Premier Hockey League:

…Alpena Flyers have but a single point from five games thus far but youngster Aaron Nowak is making a point of his own. Nowak, a homegrown, 1999 birth-year forward has been an early bright spot for the Flyers with 3 goals, 2 assists, 5 points in 5 games.

…As Alpena is 0-4-1 through its first 5 outings, the Flyers goals against is likely of some concern. Alpena goalies have allowed 30 goals in the 5 games.

…Motor City Hawks and Detroit Fighting Irish will resume a testy rivalry from last season when the two teams meet on Wednesday night at the Brownstown Sports Centre. Motor City is off to a 2-1 start to the season while Detroit is 0-2.

…A pair of returnees lead the way for Motor City through three games as Trevor Pode and Justin Session have identical totals of 3 goals, 1 assist, 4 points.

…After Wednesday’s home game with Motor City, Detroit is at the Brownstown Sports Centre for two more this weekend as the Fighting Irish will play host to Alpena on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
