Representing northern Ontario, four players from Sault Ste. Marie recently took part in an Ontario Women’s Hockey Association identification camp.

The four female hockey players were selected for the Toronto area, OWHA camp after standing out at an earlier high performance, preliminary event.

All four girls — Mya Headrick, Brook Davidson, Ari Merlino and Milana Perri — have 2004 birth dates and were teammates with the AA midget Sault Wildcats as underage players in 2018-2019.

As for the 2019-2020 season, Davidson and Perri have opted to remain at home for one more year and play for the newly-named Soo Lady Jr. Greyhounds.

Headrick, on the other hand, is headed out of town to play for the Sudbury Lady Jr. Wolves.

And Merlino — who already has a future Division 1, National Collegiate Athletic Association scholarship at prestigious Dartmouth University — will tend goal for the Mississauga Jr. Chiefs of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League in 2019-2020.
