Soo Reps in first place

Through eight games of the 2019-2020 regular season, Soo Reps are the clear cut class of the pee wee major AA division within the Nickel District Minor Hockey Association.

Coached by Frank Porco, the Reps took advantage of home ice on the weekend to clip the North Bay Trappers by 5-1 and 6-4 scores.

Speedy forward James Elliott put the ice cream toppings on the 5-1 rout with a pair of goals and Nick Dearing, Logan Dearing and Preston Miller tallied solo markers in front of Reps goalie Cash Rowswell, who made a series of sparkling saves.

Although he did not score a goal for the Reps, left winger Sam Caruso stood out with his work on the fore check and back check as part of his effective transition game.

Then, in the 6-4 triumph over the Trappers, Alessandro Parco potted a pair of goals and Logan Dearing, Preston Miller, Max Battocchio and Deago Campagna all found range for the Reps. Sebastien Brassard was in the net for the Soo.

The pair of victories boosted the Soo’s record to 7-0-1 atop the standings of the four-team, pee wee major AA loop.

North Bay has a record of 3-5-0, the Copper Cliff Reds are 2-4-2 and the Nickel City Jr. Sons have a 2-5-1 mark.
