Dallaire is a Major difference

Statistics do not lie. They may not always tell the whole story but they do not lie. Just take a look at the goal-tending stats for the Timmins Majors of the Great North Midget Hockey League.

With six games to go in the 2017-2018 regular season, Timmins — which won just two games a year ago in finishing in last place — has a respectable record of 12-17-1, which is good for 25 points.

The 25 points has Timmins in fifth place, three points back of the fourth-seeded Soo Greyhounds — with the Majors holding five games in hand.

While a good portion of the credit for the turnaround in Timmins goes to players such as forwards Austin Holmes, Riley Brousseau, Kobe Barrette, Cameron Chisholm and Gabby Kioki and defensemen Frederic Leclair-Pouw and Cameron Svec, 2001 birth year rookie Dylan Dallaire has made a Major difference between the pipes.

Dallaire has a record of 10-8-0 with a 3.03 goals against average. And what makes Dallaire’s numbers even more impressive is when he is not in net, the Majors have struggled big time with a record of 2-9-1 and a 5.23 goals against average.

Rookie head coach Brandon Perry, who deserves considerable credit for the role that he and his staff have played in revamping the fortunes of the Majors from last season to this, told Hockey News North that in his estimation, Dallaire and Sebastian Plamandon of the Kapuskasing Flyers are the two best goalies in the Great North.

“I have seen what Plamandon has done for Kap and I have seen first hand and experienced what Dylan has done for us as a rookie goalie in terms of having a great attitude and work ethic and also being the ultimate team player,” Perry relayed to Hockey News North in a recent interview.

“For a rookie goalie in this league, what Dylan has done for us has been huge,” Perry continued in further praise of Dallaire. “This is a great kid who has a lot of hockey ahead of him.”
