Timmins Majors of the Great North Midget Hockey League will be holding their second annual golf tournament on Sunday, July 29.

Advertised as a fun tournament, it will be held at the Hollinger Golf Course beginning at 1:30 p.m. Format will be an 18-hole, two-person scramble.

Majors general manager Ron Holmes said the tournament is open to all who are interested in participating, not just current members and alumni of the Timmins midget hockey program.

“With that said though, we’re looking forward to seeing the old and the new generations of Majors mixing it up on the links,” said Holmes.

Cost to enter the tournament is $150 per two-person team. The $150 includes a golf cart and a chicken parmesan and pasta dinner.

To register for the tournament, contact Holmes via telephone, 705-365-7371 or e-mail, holmsey@fibreop.ca.

On the ice, the Majors are fresh from a turnaround, 2017-2018 season in which they won 14 more games than they did in 2016-2017, playoffs included.

Under the direction of rookie head coach Brandon Perry, Timmins finished in fifth place during the 2017-2018 regular season before upsetting the fourth place Soo Greyhounds in the first round of the playoffs.

For his efforts, Perry was named coach of the year in the Great North loop.
