New coach in French River
French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League have hired former Ontario Hockey League defenseman Shawn Frappier as their new head coach, Hockey News North has confirmed.
The 42-year old Frappier played parts of four OHL seasons, beginning with his hometown Sudbury Wolves and finishing with the Barrie Colts.
He then went on to play five years of minor pro hockey.
Frappier takes over as head coach in French River from Ken Strong, who coached the Rapids for one season, missing the playoffs in the NOJHL’s East Division in 2017-2018.
Frappier has prior coaching experience with the minor midget Sudbury Wolves of the Great North Midget Hockey League.
